Summer Pack Trips

Guided wilderness trips take place from June through August. We camp in various sites along rivers, creeks and lakes with ample opportunity to fish, hike, ride and explore amidst the grandeur of truly spectacular country.

These are “roving” light-weight camps.

We plan trips around your desires and specialize in private trips for groups of four to twelve people.  Trips vary in length according to guests.  We recommend at least 2 nights / 3 days,  we can do an overnight if that’s all that fits your schedule.

We provide full service and can help with any planning needed prior to or after your trip.

What to expect – Experienced, friendly guides. Tents you can stand in, cots, great food, a new best friend (your horse!), open air outhouse, filtered water, and Memories to Last a Life Time !

Ride and Raft Trips

Full Day
Our Ride & Raft is just awesome. All our River Guides say it is by far the best Ride & Raft they have ever guided. We head out on horseback with the mules packing raft gear, extra clothes and lunch. This is the only Ride & Raft offered where once you head out on your horse you never see civilization again until you step off your raft. We have several different put in areas we use according to guests experience and river level. We’ll travel two to four hours to reach our launch site. While you’re busy changing your cowboy duds for rafting attire your guide will lay out a yummy lunch for you. You’ll be fitted with farmer style wet suits, helmets and life jackets before leaving Base Camp. River Guides will go through a training session and then it’s off you go. These are hands on paddle trips. So refreshing to see the upper portion of the Middle Fork of Flathead River which is in the Wilderness. A lot of times we never see another group of humans. Better odds of seeing wildlife as you’re out of the hustle & bustle of the lower river traffic. We will meet you at the raft pull out area with dry towels. June is Big Water with rapids of Class lll and lV. July thru August the river is lower and considered Technical Boulder Garden. As the river lowers with the run off we go to smaller rafts and inflatable kayaks. The rafting portion of our trips is provided by Wilderness River Outfitters a family owned business established in 1972. Great guides and great equipment. We have worked with them for 25 years, WRO holds a permit issued by the USDA Forest Service.
Fishing can be added

Five Day
On this multi day trip you will spend 2 1/2 days riding and exploring the wilderness on your trusty steed. Staying in a pack trip style camp. Half way thru the third day you’ll swap your horse for a raft and start your adventure of spending 2 1/2 days on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River rafting out of the Wilderness. We provide all transportation from Base Camp to trailheads and back. Car storage provided. June you’ll experience Class lll to lV whitewater, July – August Technical Boulder Style. When the river drops we add inflatable kayaks to the lineup. Fishing can be added mid-July through August.

Specialty Fishing Trips

This is great fly fishing country. Specialty fishing trips are pack trips that focus on fishing, fishing and more fishing. You’ll experience the Middle Fork of the Flathead River,  high alpine lakes, and smaller creeks. The best time is July through August. Small rafts and float tubes can be used on the lakes.  The guides are more than willing to help and bring flies that fit the area. We can also organize an all rafting fishing trip (hike or ride in). Or a combo Ride & Raft focused on fishing.

Packing Services

If you are in need of gear transportation into the upper Wilderness area of the Middle Fork of the Flathead River we can help you out.
